SyncToy is a very simple free Microsoft application that facilitates windows users to backup/sync files. User select as many as needed left folders and backup/sync with right folders that may be located in a pen drive or other PC in a LAN for example.
User can schedule the backup/sync using the Windows Task Scheduler or decide to backup/sync manually.
There are 5 possible actions:
- Synchronize - New and updated files are copied both ways. Renames and deletes on either side are repeated on the other
- Echo - New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames and deletes on the left are repeated on the right
- Subscribe - Updated files on the right are copied to the left
- Contribute - New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames and deletes on the left are repeated on the right. No deletions
- Combine - New and updated files are copied both ways. Nothing happens to renamed and deleted files
